LeBron James is the best member of the US Olympic basketball team at 39 years old

The US Olympic basketball team heading into the 2024 Paris Games looks set to potentially be one of the most talented of all time. The team includes stars such as the Lakers’ LeBron James and Anthony Davis, as well as players of the calibre of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid and Anthony Edwards. This variety of talent is astonishing and on the eve of the Olympics, the team has already held a training camp in Las Vegas.

Among the many stars who attended the US team’s training camp, LeBron James, despite his status as an experienced player, particularly caught the eye. But the big revelation was Cooper Flagg, a 17-year-old Duke basketball player who showed a level of play that could make the difference in future matches.
Something unexpected happened during training camp: 39-year-old NBA legend LeBron James proved that his skills are still at their peak. His achievements speak for themselves: James, who set an NBA scoring record and is heading into his 22nd season in the league, was named the best player in the country in The Athletic’s Olympic camp poll.

Team USA’s roster is filled with future Hall of Famers and is often compared to the legendary 1992 Dream Team. However, James won the poll with the most votes – five. Stephen Curry, Anthony Edwards and Jrue Holiday each received two votes. Joel Embiid, Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard and Bam Adebayo each received one.
It will be exciting to see how Steve Kerr manages playing time and roles on the team. Heading into his 22nd NBA season, LeBron James leaves no doubt that he remains among the league’s elite.
