Lampard fielded the youngest team in Premier League history.
Manchester United scored a landslide victory in the rescheduled match against Chelsea. The London club frankly disappointed, upsetting not only its fans, but also Liverpool.
Manchester United only needed one point to guarantee a place in the top 4. In this scenario, the Mancunians deprived Liverpool of their last chances for the Champions League area. For Chelsea, the final games of the season no longer have any tournament significance. In this context, Frank Lampard introduced the club’s youngest team in the Premier League.
In the first seconds, the active pressure of the hosts caught my attention. The Mancunians “strangled” the opponent, who looked confused. But it was Chelsea who had to open the scoring. The guests pulled off an excellent combination, but Mikhail Mudrik missed the ball from a deadly position.
The punishment followed almost immediately. Standard came to the aid of Man United. Christian Eriksen put a cross to Casemiro’s head and the Brazilian headed the ball into the net. After that, Old Trafford fans had to endure several anxious minutes. The referees reviewed the episode for offside, but found no violations. By the way, Casemiro scored the second goal in the Premier League in five days. And before that, he scored the same amount in 25 games.
In the middle of the first half, the Mancunians ran out of Anthony. The Brazilian collapsed on the pitch after contact with Trevo Chaloba and immediately showed that he was in a lot of pain. The replay shows that the Manchester United player injured his ankle. Anthony was carried off the field on a stretcher to cheers from Old Trafford. He probably won’t play again this season.

In general, before the break, the locals gave up the initiative to the rival and looked for chances in the counterattacks. By the end of the first half, Chelsea had made 20 touches in someone else’s penalty area, and Manchester United only eight. In the first added minute, Conor Gallagher frankly forgave the locals, and five minutes later the ball flew to the gates of the capital club.
And again, Casemiro intervened in the scoring attack. This time, the midfielder effectively flicked the ball to Jadon Sancho, who led Anthony Martial into an empty goal. Missing such a position would be a crime. Manchester United went into half-time with a good lead, even though they only owned the ball 31% of the time.

Already in the second minute of the second half, Chelsea should have missed the third, but Bruno Fernandes shook the crossbar. Shortly after, only the intervention of César Azpilicueta saved the guests from even greater problems. Martial and Eriksen were already ready to close the chamber, but the Spaniard’s contact prevented both of them.

Chelsea disaster: three solutions to get out of the crisis
Manchester United easily ran into counter-attacks, but were careless in the final stage. By the middle of the second half, the hosts had possession of the ball only 37% of the time. And it was at that moment that a penalty was won. Fernandes beautifully tossed the ball between the legs of Wesley Fofana, who hit the Portuguese on the ankle. The victim himself easily beat the goalkeeper from the 11-meter mark.

After that, Chelsea finally fell apart. Fofana was marked by the “import”, and Marcus Rashford upset the guests for the fourth time. At first, he easily took out Fofan himself, and then, on the second try, he outplayed Kepa. At the end of the match, the Chelsea players were frankly ignited. Enzo Fernández fought with the rivals after the third goal, and then Christian Pulisic pushed David de Gea. Naturally, the Spaniard replied, and a brawl broke out in the field.
In the last few minutes, the Londoners still played a ball. Felix dragged the ball to the penalty area line and shot straight into the bottom corner. And that’s how Gea’s “cookie” started. However, Manchester United defeated the opponent and secured a place in the Champions League. Also, Erik’s tag, Hag’s team, moved up to the top 3. And Chelsea, apparently, is expecting a big purge in the offseason.
