This time, the top eight at the grass-court major were all top players. There are simply no extra people!
At Wimbledon 2024, four rounds have already been played. This means that the quarter-final pairings are already fully formed. They do not contain too unexpected names and therefore hot matches await us. The favourites are still visible, but at the same time we should not be surprised if they are in one or the other pair, or even in all! – the dark horse will go further.
Jannik Sinner (Italy, 1) — Daniil Medvedev (Russia, 5)
The most interesting match for Russian fans, in which the US Open 2021 champion will face the winner of the Australian Open 2024. The story of the confrontation between Medvedev and Sinner is developing in a very interesting way. Some time ago the score was 6-0 in favor of the Russian, but lately the Italian has reached a qualitatively different level of performances and results. And now the score is already 6-5.
The grass court season in tennis is very short – just five weeks: three before Wimbledon and two directly during the tournament. However, both tennis players have titles on this surface. Sinner recently beat Hubert Hurkacz in the final in Halle, and Medvedev won the same tournament just two years ago. In the fight for the title, Daniil’s opponent was the same Hurkach. Moreover, our boy reached the final on grass twice more, but lost in them. During his career, Medvedev’s win-loss record on grass is 45-21 (hereinafter, taking into account the current Wimbledon), and Sinner’s is 21-8.

A year ago, Yannick and Daniil became Wimbledon semi-finalists for the first time in their careers. This time, at least one of them will repeat last year’s achievement, after which they will think about improving the result.
The odds according to the experts: 77 to 23 in favor of Sinner.
Carlos Alcaraz (Spain, 3) – Tommy Paul (United States, 12)
The winner of the Sinner – Medvedev match will advance to the stronger of the Alcaraz – Paul pair. Here, in personal encounters, oddly enough, the parity, despite the Spaniard’s higher status, is 2-2. Carlos performs very well on grass – 21 wins in 24 matches! On this surface he has already won two titles, including the most important one – Wimbledon 2023. Paul is a little less successful – 24 wins and 11 losses, but he also has one trophy. Last month he beat Lorenzo Musetti in the London final.

At Wimbledon they repeated the great record of comebacks in 2 rounds. The Russian also participated
Alcaraz, as already mentioned, is defending his title at this Wimbledon. For the first time in his career, Paul has reached the quarter-finals of a grass-court Major. Obviously, the pressure will be more on Carlos: this is Tommy’s chance.
The odds, according to experts: 75 to 25 in favor of Alcaraz.
Lorenzo Musetti (Italy, 25) – Taylor Fritz (United States, 13)
Musetti, 22, and Fritz, 26, who can no longer be called young (except perhaps young), have somewhat faded into the shadows recently. Alcaraz and Sinner eclipsed them with their results. However, this time one of them will finish in the top four at Wimbledon. This will be uncharted territory for both of them. Before this, the Italian’s best result here was in the third round last season. The American already reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals two years ago.

“Cheer up, ladies.” Taylor Fritz’s girlfriend helped her achieve the feat at Wimbledon
In personal encounters, Fritz is ahead: 2-1. Taylor won his only head-to-head match on grass against Lorenzo. At Wimbledon 2022, he did not drop a single set to his opponent. Fritz has three grass titles – all in Eastbourne! He won here in 2019, 2022 and 2024. Musetti has no trophies on this surface. And the total number of victories on grass also indicates the advantage of the American. Taylor has 33 wins and 22 losses, while Lorenzo has 17 wins and nine losses.
The odds according to the experts: 74 to 26 in favor of Fritz.
Alex de Minaur (Australia, 9) – Novak Djokovic (Serbia, 2)
The winner of the Musetti-Fritz match will advance to the best of the De Minaur-Djokovic pairing. Everything seems obvious here: only Djokovic has won Wimbledon seven times (and won once more in Eastbourne). De Minaur has so far won two trophies on grass: Eastbourne 2021 and ‘s-Hertogenbosch 2024.

In personal encounters, the Serb is ahead with a score of 2-1. In 2024, the rivals exchanged victories and their first head-to-head meeting on grass awaits them. Novak has astonishing statistics on this surface: 119 wins in 138 games! Alex has scored 33 wins on grass and suffered 17 losses. The favorite would be obvious if it weren’t for one thing: Djokovic is already 37 years old and you never know in advance when age will make itself felt.
The odds according to the experts: 73 to 27 in favor of Djokovic.
