The president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Stanislav Pozdnyakov, accused the world president of athletics, Sebastian Coe, of Russophobia.
“I think Mr. Coe has been pursuing a consistent Russophobic policy from the time he was first elected president of World Athletics. Nothing changes in his behavior, only motives, factors with which he tries to cover up the Russophobia that he shows. Of course, such behavior is not inherent in the Olympic family, in which the ideals have always been friendship, mutual respect and the pursuit of excellence. Apparently, Mr. Coe forgot about these ideals, ”TASS quoted Pozdnyakov as saying.
Earlier, Coe said that he sees no chance for the Russians to participate in the Paris Games.
The official was re-elected to the post of head of the organization.
