“Presumption of Innocence” series. Is Apple’s new detective project worth watching?

Date: July 18, 2024 Time: 04:22:13

Apple TV+ has kept up with its peers this year, releasing new content every month. This time the audience is presented with a modern detective story about the brutal murder of a prosecutor. The accusation will fall on the shoulders of the protagonist Rusty Sabich (Jake Gyllenhaal), who will have a hard time getting to the bottom of the truth. Advancing the investigation is exciting, because it is almost impossible to unravel the truth on your own. And now some details…

“Presumption of innocence”: where to look?

The project is available to watch on Apple TV+ with Russian subtitles. A total of two episodes of eight have been released, the last of which will appear on the streaming platform on July 24.

The video is available on Kinoman’s YouTube channel. The rights to the video belong to Apple.

The plot constantly keeps you in suspense.

Presumed Innocent is based on the novel of the same name by Scott Turow. The first assistant prosecutor is accused of murdering his colleague Caroline, with whom he previously had a secret romantic relationship. In the first two episodes, the viewer is immediately transported to the day of the murder, so he will be able to see the entire investigation process: from the search for the first evidence to the consideration of the case in the courtroom.

Viewers will see the investigation process in detail.

At first, events don’t unfold very quickly: they show the victim, give some basic introductions, and for the most part introduce the characters. Little by little the situation escalates and by the end of the second episode it is very difficult to stop watching. The scriptwriters cleverly add new introductory information that further piques interest, but does not reveal the whole truth.

What is happening is amazing. Each subsequent scene offers more and more new details about the lives of the characters that the viewer so desires. The action literally becomes a puzzle, where the observer assembles a large picture into a whole from many presented fragments. And it is not entirely clear whether the hero will be able to return the situation to the mainstream of justice.

A brilliant explosion of feelings.

In addition to the detective part, the creators of the show managed to cleverly introduce a love line that shows the complexity of the relationships between the characters. Rusty Sabich is a bad family man, but a good person (at least that’s how he is presented in the first two episodes). He loves his wife and children, he loves his job, but he can’t contain his outburst of feelings for Carolyn. Their relationship was full of passion, but it became destructive for both of them.

The series will show the complex relationships between the characters.

Already, through flashbacks, viewers have been shown some snippets of their romantic relationship, which provide more insight into the situation, but don’t fully reveal the entire arc. The connection between the murder and Rusty and Carolyn’s closeness has yet to be traced, but some inclinations have already been shown. The hero will not only have to clear himself of the charges, but also try to save his family and clear up his feelings.

These experiences are not boring to watch and the love story allows you to feel even more deeply in the characters. Rusty is not just a prosecutor investigating a crime. He is a living person with his own set of feelings, experiences and mistakes made. Jake Gyllenhaal looks great in this role. His emotions are sincere. They inspire confidence in the character and evoke empathy.

“Presumption of Innocence”: is it worth watching?

Fans of detective stories will definitely like the series: it is fresh, exciting and maintains intrigue even with the emergence of new facts. If the fast pace does not change and no holes appear in the script, then the final score may be higher. We recommend viewing.

Rating for Presumed Innocent (two introductory episodes): 8.5 out of 10

Each painting attracts you more. Excellent acting by Jake Gyllenhaal and other actors. It’s fascinating to see how the research develops.

I dont like him:

It’s not the most dynamic introduction.
