State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova spoke about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s speech about the Olympic Games. He believes that athletes should decide for themselves whether to participate in competitions.
“Absolutely correct words from the president, which also completely deprive Western critics of the opportunity to say that Russian athletes were persuaded to do something. You can see Vladimir Vladimirovich’s complete understanding of the situation,” Zhurova quotes RT.
Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin also spoke about the free admission of national athletes to the 2024 Games, with the exception of the condition that the athletes would have to condemn the policy of the president and the government.
