Daria Kasatkina’s coming out has created a lot of buzz around professional tennis. While some players are truly supportive and open-minded, others are not! For example, Svetlana Kuznetsova is not supporting this decision and believes it cannot be right to discuss something like this.
“Everyone has the right to decide how to live and what part of their life should be brought up for public discussion. I can’t judge Kasatkina’s decision, let alone pass judgment on it somehow. This is not necessary.”
Kasatkina came out in July of 2022, and soon thereafter posted a photo on social networks in an embrace with figure skater Natalya Zabiyako. Soon, one of the same photos appeared on the skater’s social network accompanied by the “heart” emoji. The skaters live in Barcelona and they’re now not shy about posting pictures together.
Kasatkina is a five-time WTA champion, owner of the Billie Jean King Cup, winner of one junior Grand Slam tournament as a singles player, and ex-third racket of the world in the junior ranking.
