Our list includes clubs that lost several players and received decent money for it. Why are there no Chelsea and Aston Villa? Yes, they made over 100 million euros in sales, but their costs still exceeded their income. We selected one club from each top league (except the Premier League, there are two teams from there). Each of them suffered significant losses and earned more than they spent.
“Bologna” (Italy)
Last season, the Serie A club had a great season: fifth place in the table and a ticket to the Champions League. Naturally, top clubs paid attention not only to the red-and-blue players, but also to the head coach. Thiago Motta has been promoted and is now working at Juventus. Bologna has already earned 97.85 million euros from transfers.

Three players immediately left the Serie A club for England. Defender Riccardo Calafiori became an Arsenal player (45 million euros), striker Joshua Zirkzee moved to Manchester United (42.5 million euros) and defender Louis Binks signed a contract with Coventry from the Championship (2 million euros). This is followed by the departure of experienced striker Marko Arnautovic: Inter paid 8 million euros for the 35-year-old Austrian. In addition, the contract of Alexis Saelemaekers, who returned to Milan, expired. Swiss national team player Dan Ndoye may also leave Bologna – there was previously information about Inter’s interest.
What’s happening at Manchester United, where Zirkzee moved:

Leeds (England)
This club has already sold players worth 86.9 million euros. Impressive, isn’t it? For 18-year-old midfielder Archie Gray, Leeds received 41.25 million euros – that’s exactly what Tottenham paid. Last season, the kid played 52 games in all competitions and posted the fourth result in the team in number of minutes on the field (4268).

Who else have Leeds lost? Striker Luis Sinisterra moved to Bournemouth (€23.4m), midfielder Glen Kamara will continue his career at Rennes (€10m), defensive midfielder Mark Roca moved to Betis (€4.5m). By the way, defender Diego Llorente (€3.25m) also left for Betis. Leeds also sold Charlie Cresswell to Toulouse for €4.5m.
Perhaps Leeds’ biggest losses are Gray and Kamara. Sinisterra played last season at Bournemouth, Roca at Betis and Llorente at Roma. All three were on loan. And Cresswell played just 495 minutes in the 2023/2024 season.

Nottingham Forest (England)
Nottingham Forest’s transfer campaign is an art form in itself. For example, in the summer of 2022, the English club acquired 20 new footballers. This time, Forest sold players for 83.4 million euros. The most profitable transaction was the sale of central defender Moussa Nyakate to Lyon for 31.9 million euros. Two years ago, the English club bought the player from Mainz for 10 million euros and now it sold him for three times the price.

Nottingham also made money with the transfer of goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos. He joined the team in September 2023 – the English club paid only 4.9 million euros. Now the Greek goalkeeper will continue his career at Newcastle and Nottingham Forest has become richer by 23.6 million euros. Orel Mangala is another footballer who left the English club for Lyon. The French national team rented the player from the Belgian national team at the beginning of 2024 and then bought the rights for 23.4 million euros. Swiss Remo Freuler played last season at Bologna on loan. This summer, Nottingham sold him to the Italian club for 4.5 million euros.
Stuttgart (Germany)
One of the discoveries of last season in the Bundesliga. “Stuttgart” performed so well in the tournament that it finished second in the table. Even Bayern were below. It is not surprising that after such a performance the team suffered significant losses. Defender Waldemar Anton was Stuttgart’s best player in terms of playing minutes last season (3248). And striker Serou Guirassi scored 30 goals, first place in the list of the club’s best scorers. Both remained in the Bundesliga, but swapped the Stuttgart jersey for the black and yellow jersey of Borussia Dortmund.

Another important loss is centre-back Hiroki Ito. The Japanese national team player (19 caps for the national team) moved to Bayern. It is true that the start of his career at the Munich club did not go well for the Asian player. He broke his leg in a trial match and was out of action for a long time. In addition, Stuttgart sent winger Gil Dias to Famalican for a purely symbolic 920,000 euros. In total, the German club earned 64.92 million euros from transfer fees.

Rennes (France)
This club was only ranked tenth in the Ligue 1 table. It doesn’t look very interesting, but Rennes players are in high demand. The club has already sold five players and loaned attacking midfielder Fabian Rieder to Stuttgart (800,000 euros). It is curious that two Rennes players moved to the German champions. Bayer paid a total of 35 million euros for 27-year-old winger Martin Terje and 19-year-old defender Zhanuel Belosyan. The former scored nine goals last season, while the latter played 1,733 minutes.

It is true that Rennes earned the most money not from these boys, but from Enzo Le Fe. The 24-year-old midfielder moved to Italy – Roma paid 23 million euros for his transfer. Two more transfers took place within Ligue 1. Matthijs Ablin was sold to Nantes for 10 million euros and Gela Douet was sold to Strasbourg for 6 million euros. Millions Result: Rennes has already received 74.8 million euros for players this summer.
Royal Society (Spain)
The most successful club in La Liga in terms of transfer income (37 million euros). Of course, we are only talking about the current window. The San Sebastian club received the largest part of this amount (34.5 million euros) for defender Robin Le Normand, a European champion with the Spanish national team. In addition, two players at the same time, Diego Rico and Alex Solá, moved to Getafe. Real Sociedad earned a total of 2.5 million euros from these two transfers.

Roberto Lopez left the club as a free agent, while the loans of Kieran Tierney, Javi Galan and Andre Silva expired. Real Sociedad may be without Mikel Merino. Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are rumoured to be in the running for the European champions.
