When it comes to buying various foods, it is important to pay attention to quality. These tips will help you make an informed decision.
appearance and color. High-quality meat should have a bright, fresh color. For beef this is a bright red hue, and for poultry it is pinkish. Avoid product with a gray color and dark spots, as these may indicate spoilage.
Texture. A firm texture means that the product is of good quality. When touched, it pops up and leaves no dents. Avoid meat that is too soft, slimy, or sticky, as these are signs of spoilage.
Smell. Fresh meat has a neutral or slightly metallic odor. A strong sour odor indicates rancid.
Marbling and fat distribution. The marbling is determined by the fatty layers found in the piece of meat and the muscle fibers. The fat should be pure white in color and evenly distributed throughout the product.
Origin and labeling. Buy meats from reputable producers, and consider labels like organic, grass-fed, or free-range, depending on your preferences.
Fruits and vegetables
Appearance and texture. Choose fruits and vegetables that are brightly colored and free of blemishes. When slightly compressed, they should not be too hard or too soft.
Smell. Avoid fruits and vegetables that have a sour or moldy odor, as this indicates spoilage.
Weight. Heavy fruits and vegetables tend to be juicier and fresher. Compare the weight of products of the same size to determine their relative quality and make the right choice.
Hardness. Fruits and vegetables have different degrees of firmness. For example, ripe avocados give slightly under pressure, while apples should be firm. Evaluate your desired maturity level before purchasing a product.
Seasonality and origin. Choose local, seasonal produce whenever possible, as it is more likely to be fresh and tasty.
Packaging and expiration date. Check the milk packaging for damage or leaks. Make sure the expiration date is within the normal range.
Smell. Fresh milk should taste mild, slightly sweet. A sour odor indicates product spoilage.

Consistency. Fresh milk has a smooth, even texture. Avoid curdled product with lumps.

Humidity. Dried fruits need to be dried well to get a firm, chewy texture. Excess moisture can lead to mold growth.
Package. Check the packaging for signs of damage, such as tears or holes. Properly sealed containers help maintain the quality and freshness of the nuts.
