Sofia Raffaeli merged with the ball and took bronze.
The images from the Olympic Games continue to amaze. This time the photographer captured the Italian gymnast and five-time world champion Sofia Raffaeli.
“Headless” gymnast
In the final of the individual all-around, the artist lost the ball, but quickly caught the object. The mistake was followed by a point deduction, but the main thing in this matter was something else.

The moment the Italian caught the thrown ball with her chest during a split jump, photographers took an unusual photo. The girl leaned so much that the ball replaced her head for a second. Yes, that’s exactly what it looks like in the photo.
If you asked a neural network to create an image in which a gymnast was merged with a ball, then the artificial intelligence would probably produce something similar.
But this photo from the Olympics is simply a masterpiece:

Bitter Bronze
As a result of this routine, Raffaeli scored 32.9 points, keeping the fourth position after two exercises. But after the entire program, in the fight against Daria Atamanov and Margarita Kolosov, she still managed to get a bronze medal.
Her performance with the ribbon closed the tournament among the all-rounders. The girl’s coach, joyful and with the typical Italian emotion, rushed to hug the athlete. But Sofia herself expected more and could not hold back her tears of disappointment.

The winner of the tournament was former Russian Daria Varfolomeev, who gave Germany its first Olympic gold in the history of rhythmic gymnastics. Bulgarian athlete Boryana Kalein won silver.
