The scandalous opening could not be overshadowed: the ceremony was enlivened by a Hollywood production.
The Paris Olympics closed with a ceremony that was anything but scandalous. Director Thomas Jolly is unlikely to have made any changes to his script after what happened at the opening. Shocking the world twice in a couple of weeks would be too much. But they definitely won’t be talking about the closing the same way they talk about the opening: it’s a bit boring. Hollywood came to the rescue.
The ceremony began in the Tuileries Garden with Edith Piaf’s song, A Hymn to Paris, performed by Zaho de Sagazan. Then, the hero of these Olympic Games, Leon Marchand, enclosed the Olympic flame in a lamp that burned over Paris in a giant structure for more than two weeks, illuminating the globe.

Not everyone was happy with the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games. The artists turned out to be unreal!
The parade of flag bearers and athletes, when everyone sang in unison the immortal Les Champs-Elysées by Joe Dassin, Freed From Desire by the group Gala and We Are the Champions by Queen, is always fun. Unlike the opening ceremony, at the closing ceremony the athletes were mixed and not in national teams.
The show itself is a visit by a certain Golden Traveler from the distant future to Earth, where the Olympic Games are no longer held. But this extraterrestrial visitor, who looked as much like a cricket as Wolverine, only with soft leaves, gradually found Olympic artifacts during his visit and eventually discovered the Olympic rings, which towered over the Stade de France: the Olympic Games were revived once again.

Majestic, beautiful, with a reference to Ancient Greece, a hymn to Apollo, an elegant and very original production, which was supposed to show that the Olympic Games always open new horizons and that each subsequent one should be even better than the previous one. But, to be honest, this idea was not very clear without a script. Several musical numbers after this one were downright boring.
But the Olympics in Paris turned out to be really great. Packed stands, a festive atmosphere, fights in sports stadiums, scandals (where would we be without them?) and stories of overcoming, memes and records – all this happened. How will Los Angeles respond in four years?
Judging by the spectacle that the Olympic flag handover ceremony has become, it’s worth preparing for something grand. This is the Hollywood part of the production, Tom Cruise jumping off the roof of the Stade de France, taking the flag, riding a bike onto the plane, handing the flag over to Los Angeles and adding three more “o”s to the Hollywood sign. making Hollywoooood, stylized as Olympic rings, and then also with a concert by Red Hot Chilly Peppers, Billie Eilish and Snoop Dogg on the ocean shore, it was great.

And the end of the ceremony was also beautiful. Leon Marchand extinguished the Olympic flame in the lamp he held throughout the ceremony.
These Olympic Games are over and the selection for the next one will begin very soon. We hope that Russia will participate.
