The International Judo Federation (IJF) has decided to award the gold medal of the World Championship in the weight category over 100 kg to the Russian Inal Tasoev.
“After careful expert analysis, the IJF concluded that Tasoev may have received a mark for the attack. Therefore, the IJF declared both athletes winners of the competition and awarded Tasoev the gold medal and ranking points,” the IJF said in a statement.
Recall that in the final fight, which took place on May 13, Tasoev lost to the Frenchman Teddy Riner. During the fight, the Russian used a technique that caused the opponent to fall, but the judges did not see judo techniques in Tasoev’s actions.
