The pale shadow of a great father: Larsson: from Spartak to the Bundesliga and the Danish championship

WHAT HAPPENED?

January 24 “Schalke” was defeated at home by “Leipzig” – 1:6. The match was broadcast on Match TV. At first, the camera caught a glimpse of Jordan Larsson. The thought flashed: inside, Larsson is at the base. The Swede was no longer in the field of view of the cameras.

Leipzig scored four unanswered goals in the first half and the striker was substituted at half-time. Head coach Thomas Rice found three to blame for the embarrassing loss, including Larsson. Soon Schalke sent the 25-year-old Swede to Copenhagen on loan until the end of the season.

Larsson spent only six months in Gelsenkirchen, taking part in 12 matches, but playing only six and a half full. During this time, he did not inflict a single (!) Shot on goal, naturally, he did not score a single goal and did not give a single assist to his teammates.

It’s quite logical that he went to Copenhagen, but Jodan always dreamed of playing in one of the best leagues in Europe. He will now love him in the peripheral championship, but, yes, in the strongest club in Denmark.

Looking back, Larsson has only had one successful season in his career: at Spartak in the 2020/2021 season, he scored 15 goals.

HOW HIS FATHER PLAYED

And now for the youth, let’s remember how the famous father of Jordan Henrik played. And what success he has had.

Henrik began his professional career in 1988 with the modest Swedish Hegaborg. There he scored decently and was promoted to the most eminent Helsingborg. There, in 55 games in the 1992-93 season, he scored 50 goals.

Feyenoord have bought the young Swede. It must be explained that at that time Dutch club football was one of the strongest in Europe, and Feyenoord was a very powerful club.

Henrik spent 5 years in the Netherlands, played 101 games and scored 26 goals. In 1997, he ended up at Celtic, there were also 5 seasons, but the figures were more impressive: 221 matches, 174 goals.

In 2004, Barcelona took notice of the Swede. Larsson Sr. has 40 appearances for the Catalan club and 13 goals.

The statistics in the Swedish national team look impressive: 106 games, 37 goals.

At the 1994 World Cup in the USA, Henrik won the bronze medal. His pairing in attack with Thomas Brolin terrified the defense of the rivals of the Swedish team. In November 2003, Henrik Larsson was recognized as Sweden’s best soccer player of the last 50 years.

As you can see, the saying that nature rests in children is quite suitable for the Larsson family.
