The national team failed to win a single match against Egypt.
On September 11, the second friendly match of the Russian national team against their teammates from Egypt took place. The team led by Viktor Onopko lost to their rivals 1:2.
In both national teams, the players on the field could not exceed the age of 23 years. This is due to the fact that the Egyptians do these types of training sessions in the run up to the Olympic Games. And Russia now does not particularly choose its rivals. So I agreed to play two away games by someone else’s rules. The first match ended in a 1:1 draw.
Now the Russian team had a completely different composition and even a different mentor. This time the team was prepared by Viktor Onopko, as the national team coach Valery Karpin accompanied the team to another away match against Qatar. This game will take place on September 12.

The home team’s goalkeeper often played on the thin side at the beginning of the game. The Egyptians tried to build their attacks through it. And he could give an imprecise pass or get carried away with the ball and at the final moment kick it into touch.
But the visiting goalkeeper Torop seriously entered the match only in the 16th minute of the match. The Russian saved a dangerous free kick from Mahmoud Saber. A few minutes later he was close to scoring, but hit the post. And overall he seemed like the brightest Egyptian player. He could easily dribble past several Russian defenders at once and shoot accurately on goal. But Torop kept the level.

The rest of the first half was dictated by Egypt. The team attacked more frequently, but failed to materialize their dangerous chances. But already in the minutes added to the first part, Pinyaev was close to the double. The winger went one by one and shot over the goal. Then the teams went to rest.
During the break Onopko only made one change on the field. Instead of Pinyaev, Vladislav Gladyshev appeared. The Egyptians traded five players at once.
Russia started the second part more actively than its rival. Gladyshev, who had just entered the field, came close to scoring. But now the Egyptian goalkeeper coped with the dangerous shot, keeping the score on the scoreboard.
In the 68th minute, the Egyptians scored a miraculous goal after a rebound. Ahmed Fawzi scored. At this point, Russia was simply unlucky. But the team did not play much stronger than its rivals. It was even football with many mistakes and clashes on both sides.
Four minutes later, the Egyptian team took the lead. After another foul by the Russians, the Egyptians made a showy set piece. After serving on the flank, Armi Badr scored, but nobody held it.

Until the end of the match, Russia did not create a single moment of danger in the rival goal. The team’s performance in this match was, to put it mildly, mediocre. The Russian team did not have a clearly drawn up game plan. And the Egyptians caught us in our own mistakes. Such a sight leaves an unpleasant aftertaste.
