Who is the face of the NBA? What is the future of Boston? Section authors respond to comments.
The author of the basketball section, Arina Ershova, pondered who should become the face of the NBA. Reaction to boroda67’s comment
Jokic is ugly, Doncic hasn’t achieved anything yet. In theory, the “face of the league” was supposed to be Giannis, but he is not very mediatic … In general, now with the stars it is rather boring.

Kendrick Perkins named the player who is the face of the modern NBA
When Kendrick Perkins called Anthony Edwards the face of the modern NBA, a reasonable question arose in the comments: why Ant and not the European comrades who have dominated the league in recent years?
Let’s not offend Nicola; after all, beauty, as they say, is in the eyes of the beholder. But seriously, none of the aforementioned guys can be the “face of the league” just yet. And there are several reasons for this.
Let’s start simple. All of these guys are not American, have rather unusual first and last names for foreign audiences, and also speak with heavy accents. And that, believe it or not, is pretty important when it comes to engaging with the general public, not just basketball fans.
More. As long as LeBron James, Stephen Curry or Kevin Durant is in the league, the question of who his “face” is is automatically closed. They had more time to achieve success on the basketball field and also build a personal brand. These are world-class stars that even those who have never watched a single NBA game have heard of.

In the end, Giannis himself really isn’t much of a media person. Jokic generally comes across as a person for whom basketball is a job. Which he doesn’t like. If the business jumps! Doncic has potential in this regard, but he should give some serious thought to his behavior on and off the court (no one has forgotten the history of the hookah yet).
Edwards is different. He’s not just a standout basketball player with a huge contract. He is brilliant, charismatic and occasionally gives away meme quotes. Ent is considered by many fans to be one of the most fun players (in a good way) in the NBA. A role in “Breakthrough in the NBA” is worth something!
That’s why the role of “face of the league” really suits him better. But before Edwards can really become one, we’ll probably have to wait a few years. For now, we are happy with what we have.
What is the current state of scouting in the NBA? Reaction to the comment boroda67 of the author of the basketball section Andrey Antson
This indicates weak scrutiny overall for these clubs.

Draymond Green on the NBA Draft: Most GMs are stupid as hell
In NBA history, scouting errors have occurred, are occurring, and will continue to occur. The job of a scout in basketball is no different from that of other sports. It is always about, first and foremost, watching a large number of games. Second, the collection and analysis of player statistics. But what determines the success of the work are the principles on which it is based.
Starting with Daryl Morey and Sam Hinkie, advanced analytics began to be used in the league. The process described in the cult movie Moneyball, starring Brad Pitt, has finally made its way to major league basketball. As a result, directly, as in the film, more progressive and more traditional managers could be observed.

Someone immediately jumped on the wave of three-point basketball without positions, while someone still preferred to recruit athletic players, but little knowledge of the ball.
Jokic’s Warriors dynasty and championship proved to everyone that progress wins, and advanced stats are a must when evaluating players. Will we see a world where everything is so automated and calculated that there will be no more mistakes in the draft?
No, the human factor is too high: there are too many variables that affect the result. But I would hypothesize that we’ll see fewer and fewer bad picks in the draft and use the word “dump” a lot less often.
