The Stars and Stripes had a great day and beat the Chinese.
The eleventh day of the Paris Olympics turned out to be the most modest in terms of medal finals in the second week of the Games: only 13 sets of awards were handed out. However, the United States made the most of it.
Gold in the long-suffering surfing, the final of which was constantly postponed due to bad weather in Tahiti, gold in women’s wrestling and two golds in athletics, and in those events where representatives of other countries were the clear favourites. Four victories made the Americans’ medal collection even more impressive (24 – 31 – 31) and brought them to first place.

China was able to respond to all the victories of the USA only with a gold in diving. In terms of the total number of awards, the representatives of the Celestial Empire are already far behind their main competitors (58 versus 86), but in the unofficial ranking, gold medals are the main thing. And here China is still holding on: 22 – 20 – 16.
In the battle for third place, Australia and France each won one gold and thus maintained their positions. The representatives of the southern hemisphere have 35 (14 – 12 – 9) prizes in their treasury, while the hosts of the Games have 48 (13 – 16 – 19).
Russia, with one silver medal, fell to 58th place in the medal table. Bahrain, Slovenia, North Korea and Uganda are countries above us.
