The start of the battle for the right to play in the RPL next season.
The Russian Championship is over. Everyone was determined: the champion, the winners, the middle peasants, those who were eliminated. The season is over for them. But for RPL 13 and 14 teams, it’s still ongoing. Fakel and Pari NN are waiting for the play-offs for the right to stay in the elite for the next season. They will be opposed by representatives of the First League – Yenisei and Rodina, respectively.
The representatives of the lower division will play the first game at home; this can give some advantage. Enisey, for example, usually has one major option: play in the arena, where opponents, who are used to playing outdoors, regularly experience problems. True, this did not help the Krasnoyarsk team in the RPL – they were in the elite only once – in the 2018/2019 season, but ended up in last place.
As for Rodina, today is a historic moment for her: never before has a young club from Moscow been so close to the Premier League. She remains to successfully play with Sergei Yuran’s team in Sokolniki. On paper, the composition of Nizhny Novgorod is much better and more diverse. But the same Akron at the Russian Cup showed that not everything is decided by famous names on the back.
