Grandmaster Valentina Gunina commented on the words of the President of the Russian Chess Federation Andrey Filatov about the transition of the federation to the Asian Union.
“I am delighted to learn that the CFR is working on a transition to the Asian Chess Federation. For me it means that there will be more tournaments. This year I had very little game practice, for various reasons. I think that if the transition is successful, there will be more competitions and they will become very strong, because right now there is a real chess boom in Asia. We see this on the example of India, Uzbekistan and, of course, China,” Gunina said in an interview with Sovetsky Sport correspondent Daria Savinova.
Recall that the early re-elected president of the Russian Chess Federation (RCF) Andrey Filatov said that the issue of the transition from the RCF to the Asian Union will be considered at the beginning of 2023.
