Which RPL coach will be the next to be sacked?

Kirill Zakatchenko September 11, 2024, 07:45 Moscow time Audio version: Your browser does not support the audio element.

There are several candidates on the list.

There have already been two coaching changes in the RPL. First, Fakel fired Igor Cherevchenko and appointed Dmitry Pyatibratov in his place. And then Akhmat invited Sergei Tashuev to the post vacated by Magomed Adiev. In both cases, the RPL clubs returned their former coaches. Who will be the next to lose their job?

We have selected several candidates and Championship users will assign them to online spots.

Ranking: Which RPL coach will soon lose his job?

Sasha Ilic (“Paris NN”)

Before the start of the new championship, many called Ilic the first candidate to leave. The Serb took over Paris NN at the end of last season and with great difficulty kept the team in the RPL. The team from Nizhny Novgorod regularly lost in the championship and fell into the relegation zone. And there, one victory in Tula was enough. At the start of the new season, things looked sad for Paris NN. Three defeats in a row in all tournaments with a total score of 3:11.

It seemed that a little more and Ilic would be sent home. Instead, the Nizhny Novgorod club beat its direct competitors (Dynamo Mkh and Khimki) and rose to the top half of the table. True, it did not stay there for long. Before the international break, Paris NN suffered five defeats in a row. Why was Ilic not fired? Most likely, it has to do with the status of the opponents. After all, the Nizhny Novgorod club played Krasnodar twice in this period – once against CSKA and once against Zenit. Before the next RPL break, Paris NN will play with Fakel, Lokomotiv, Orenburg and Akron. It seems that a lot will depend on these matches.

Dmitry Pyatibratov (“Torch”)

Pyatibratov returned to the Voronezh club in mid-August. But with his arrival the situation did not change radically. Yes, Fakel still managed to get the first win of the season, but lost four more matches (including the Russian Cup). Now the team is at the bottom of the RPL table. In addition, it has serious attacking problems. Three goals scored in seven rounds is the worst result in the league along with Dynamo Makhachkala. If Fakel continues in the same vein, it is possible that the club’s management will again resort to radical measures. Although one should take into account the modest budget and far from the strongest cast.

Frank Artiga (Khimki)

In the off-season, the Moscow region club conducted an interesting transfer campaign. The team was supplemented by players with extensive RPL experience (Anton Zabolotny, Artur Yusupov, Reziuan Mirzov, Denis Glushakov, Zelimkhan Bakaev). In addition, Khimki took several foreign players (Lucas Vera, Dani Fernandez, Orinho, Edgardo Fariña, Diego Luna). All this was done to keep a place in the RPL. But for now, Khimki is dangerously close to the play-off zone, having managed only one victory after seven rounds. After the international break, the team will play against Akron, Orenburg and Krylia Sovetov. Will you be able to collect as many points as possible? Or will Artiga leave his post soon?

Igor Osinkin (“Wings of the Soviets”)

The Samara team has lost 8 out of 10 official matches this season. How do you like this? Wings are unlikely to be very upset by the elimination from the Russian Cup, but five defeats in seven RPL matches is such a result. True, in three cases the rivals of the Volga team were top clubs (“Zenit”, “Spartak” and “Dynamo”). At the same time, Wings is actively working on the market. The team is already completed by Igor Dmitriev, Ivan Oleynikov, Dominic Oroz, Tomas Galdames and Ivan Sergeev.

Wings have big problems in attack. The team scores less than one goal per game on average in the RPL (six goals in seven rounds). Three of them came in the home game against Paris NN (3-1). Perhaps the return of Sergeev will improve the situation. Immediately after the break, Wings will play twice on the road. First they will go to Kazan and then to Grozny. After that, Osinkin’s team will play at home against Khimki and then away against Lokomotiv. Will the coach keep his job for the next break in the championship?

David Deogracia (Orenburg)

Orenburg impressed everyone in the first round of the RPL. Then Deografica’s team defeated Spartak (2-0) and then something went wrong. From that moment on, Orenburg forgot what it was like to win. The series has already stretched to nine matches in all tournaments. Yes, Orenburg is out of the relegation zone, but its damage is very small (one point). In this situation, the coach’s position does not look strong. Moreover, so far Orenburg has only scored points at home in the RPL and has lost three out of three away games. There are still matches ahead with opponents of different levels. Here are Zenit and Lokomotiv, Khimki and Paris NN.

Khasanbi Bidzhiev (Dynamo MX)

The Makhachkala club has rather modest chances, so this team was immediately included as one of the main outsiders of the Russian championship. However, Dynamo went to the break in ninth place in the table. In addition, the Dagestan club managed to score two victories in the group stage of the RPL Path of the Russian Cup. Good performance for a team with limited resources. True, the number of Dynamo goals in the RPL is confusing (3). It seems that Bidzhiev can rest easy for now, but the distance to the play-off zone is only two points. Very soon Dynamo will play matches with Spartak, Rostov, Dynamo Moscow and CSKA. With this schedule, the Dagestan club risks falling to one of the last places in the table.

Zaur Tedeev (Akron)

Tedeev brought the club to the top division of Russian football. But Akron is having a hard time there. Now the Togliatti team is in the play-off zone and points are coming with great difficulty. Akron has not won in the RPL for a month and a half; so far it has only managed to defeat the problematic Fakel. In the first four rounds, the RPL newcomer scored six goals, and in the next three – only one. On the other hand, Akron is doing well in the Russian Cup. There, for example, it beat Zenit. But it is clear that the main goal of the team is to maintain its place in the RPL.

Someone else

Sergei Tashuev is unlikely to be at risk of losing his job in the near future. After all, he only recently returned to Grozny. But it is possible that one of the clubs in the top half of the table will decide to reshuffle. Maybe Rubin? CSKA? Or Dynamo Moscow? Write your options in the comments.
