Yes, among the “contenders” are Verstappen and Norris. And also Hamilton and Alonso.
We continue our traditional column: after the end of each F1 race, we invite you to choose the worst driver yourself. In addition, in this ranking poll we encourage you to evaluate the performance of the drivers on race day, without taking into account qualifying and other sessions. In other words, it turns out to be a kind of “Racer of the Day” award in reverse.
Based on the results of the race on the Spielberg track, the editors selected seven contenders for the title of worst driver, and now only you can determine the name of the “winner.”

Important: The “Ranking” feature is available only in the regular version of the “Championship”. If you accessed this material via the search page, you will see a generated list without voting buttons.

Max Verstappen
The usually infallible Dutchman made two mistakes at once. First, he locked his wheels after the final pit stop, thus making it easier for Lando Norris to chase him, and then he made a slight miscalculation in defense and caused a collision with the McLaren driver. It turns out that with a tough fight, old demons are awakening in Verstappen.

Lando Norris
Although Max was blamed for the final accident with Verstappen, it cannot be said that Lando himself acted perfectly in the fight. The main complaint is that the attack on the Dutchman was too bold in a situation where the McLaren driver had already been penalized for violating track limits. Was it really worth the risk of going off the side of the road again? If it weren’t for the accident, we’d probably be actively discussing Lando’s five-second penalty.

Lewis Hamilton
A weak race for the seven-time world champion. At the start, Lewis overtook Sainz on the side of the road; he had to drop him, after which Hamilton was stuck behind the Ferrari. And then Lewis hit the white line when entering the pit lane and completely ruined his chances of a podium finish.
Sergio Perez
The Mexican ran the entire race with a broken sidepod, but it was his fault. At the exit of the fourth corner, Perez decided to squeeze Oscar Piastri’s McLaren; as a result, the Australian’s wheel created a hole in the car. In this situation, Sergio finished seventh, unable to cope with Hulkenberg’s counterattack on the last lap.

Fernando Alonso
The Spaniard made a mistake in the close struggle of the middle peasants. In turn three, Fernando dived to the inside at the last moment and ended up kicking Guanyu Zhou’s car. For his actions, Alonso received a well-deserved 10-second penalty and ultimately finished in a mediocre 18th place.

Alejandro Albon
Overall, the Thai drove the race with the strength of his car, and the main complaint against Alexander was crossing the white line when entering the pit lane. The five-second penalty cost the Williams driver several positions at the finish line, although we are not talking about a loss of points.

Yuki Tsunoda
At the start of the race, Tsunoda was right behind his teammate, who eventually finished in the points zone. But Yuki failed: the tactic of delaying pit stops did not work and the mysterious loss of pace clearly did not help. As a result, only 14th place and round-robin status.
