Telegram founder Pavel Durov has joined the United Arab Emirates’ One Billion Meals campaign, which aims to save the world from hunger. The businessman spoke about it on his Telegram channel.
“The world is on the brink of a global food crisis. Hundreds of millions of people are starving,” Durov wrote.
Activist Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum donated 400 million meals, he said. The businessman, for his part, paid a “modest” 12 million. The goal of the One Billion Meals program is to raise funds for food for those most in need in 50 countries around the world.
At the end of April, Sheikh Mohammed announced the successful achievement of the goal in less than a month. Durov hopes that many more people will join this initiative in the coming years.
