“On July 12, they tested a new type of Hwaseongpo-18 ICBM,” RIA Novosti quoted in the agency’s message. North Korean President Kim Jong-un personally supervised the launch.
The rocket reached a height of 6,648.4 kilometers and flew 1,001.2 kilometers in 4,491 seconds. The tests were aimed at confirming the technical feasibility and operational reliability of ICBMs.
The statement emphasizes that the North Korean missile launch did not adversely affect the security of neighboring countries.
Recall, on the eve of the Japanese maritime security service reported that the DPRK had presumably launched a ballistic missile. Later, the Japanese newspaper Asahi claimed that North Korea had broken its record for the longest missile flight: it flew for about 74 minutes.
