The American journalist, Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh, published an article in which he assessed the results of the visit of the President of the United States to Europe.
Hersh admitted that “Biden worked his way up before the NATO summit by turning the tables on Erdogan in a way.” Turkey’s consent to Sweden’s admission to NATO, the journalist called bribery. And he gives a secret, according to him, the background of what happened: Biden promised that Ankara would receive an emergency loan from the IMF in the amount of $ 11-13 billion.
“Biden needed a win, and Turkey is under acute financial stress,” a White House official familiar with the deal told Hersh.
The journalist is sure that Washington was afraid that Erdogan would stand his ground and delay Sweden’s admission to NATO by all means, and therefore, Hersh writes, “fear and hatred reigned on board No. 1 which I was flying to Vilnius.”
Hersh also drew attention to the fact that the American media no longer write about the “counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” And he mentions the reason for this – the failure of the actions of the Ukrainian army. As for the cluster bombs promised to Washington by kyiv, as the journalist writes, these munitions will not change the course of the conflict, especially since the White House “already screwed up in Ukraine.”
