During the year, the level of salaries offered by employers in vacancies increased by an average of 8%. And in some areas, more than 20%. These are data from a recent study by Rabota.ru, where analysts compared salary offers for the first half of 2023 and for the same period in 2022.
Of course, you already expect to see in the best specialists with the fastest growing salaries always the right IT people. At worst, cool technical specialists. And here it is not. Most actively, judging by the growth in salary offers, they are looking for people in office services and business services (see “Only numbers”). Much more willing to pay now students and interns. Still at the top – don’t believe it – science and education.
How is that?
– Here you need to understand that statistics can reflect many things, including a sharp increase from a low base. For example, last year they were ready to pay 5,000 rubles to an intern, and this year, due to the increased shortage of personnel, up to 10,000, there is a sharp increase here, – explains Alexander Safonov, a professor of personnel management. Department, Vice Chancellor of the Financial University. – In general, it is extremely difficult to compare 2023 and 2022, because 2022 was abnormal in terms of the labor market. The companies have faced financial penalties, some with a change of ownership. What kind of interns are there? They are not up to the youth without a shell, to keep the main staff. Now the labor market has stabilized for some time. And companies are forced to fight for their future and, among other things, to think of more attractive offers for young people, because they are scarce. Education and science. In this case, the fact that the Ministry of Education and Science introduced more exhaustive control of the execution of presidential decrees on wages in these areas played a role. In addition, there was an indexation of the salaries of public sector employees. Also keep in mind that the data on wage increases does not reflect an increase in the burden of this money, and it is now occurring in many areas, including science and education, due to worker shortages. And finally, we must not forget that a salary offer is not a salary. These can also be proposals from the series “A taxi driver is required for 250 thousand rubles per day”, where it is not specified how many hours he needs to plow to really earn that kind of money.
– But what are the forecasts, who, in what areas can realistically increase salaries in the near future?
– Definitely for those who receive the minimum wage – in connection with plans from January 1, 2024 to increase the minimum wage (minimum salary) immediately by 18.5% to more than 19 thousand. Companies cannot ignore this: these problems are under the control of any inspection body. Most likely, the wages of young people will increase. Due to its scarcity and the need to fight for it and somehow attract companies. And wage discrimination for older workers will decrease, again simply due to staff shortages. These are the moments that can be predicted with the highest probability. Everything else will depend on economic indicators. Where there is growth, you can count on rising wages.
