– Alexey Anatolyevich, as a specialist in the protection of patients’ rights, do you see any pitfalls in this law?
– To be honest, the figure that was announced – and it is about three thousand patients who have gone through such a difficult history in our country, it seems to me, makes this problem not particularly relevant.
– Precisely because the issue concerns a very small number of people with a similar specific problem?
– Certainly. Compared to 145 million inhabitants of the Russian Federation, 2990 patients, and this number of patients was announced in the State Duma, have undergone this type of medical intervention: they, excuse some, perhaps cynicism, do not do any climate for our country. absolutely.
– But it can hardly be denied that there is a tendency to increase the number of people with a similar problem. And the deputies who discussed this law say that now people with a fragile psyche and with a fragile mental makeup can see enough of what is happening on the other side of the hill, and while a small number of “sick” people can increase quickly, exponentially?
– In general, as I understand it, the history of the legalization of such surgical changes begins in 2017. When did it become legal to change gender? It seems that it was then that the relevant order from the Ministry of Health appeared. But I think the problem is still that those people who have changed their sex are on hormone replacement therapy. And the question is whether they will continue to receive it more in an organized way, at the expense of the State…
– Do you have information that compulsory hormone therapy – is not specified in any way in the new version of the law?
– At least, in the announcements everywhere, in the media, it was indicated that the law implies the prohibition of such therapy.
– But shouldn’t the ban apply to the intervention of doctors, which is associated with the treatment of congenital anomalies and malformations?
– We are talking about congenital anomalies. For example, about hermaphroditism. When, say, a born child has, for example, sexual organs (internal or external) of different sexes, that is, both. It means, or partly one, partly the other. These are the patients of childhood, apparently they will undergo correction, depending on what prevails genetically, on the one hand, on the other hand, purely physically, taking into account the opinion of their parents, etc.
