Date: October 17, 2024 Time: 14:35:16

EiDF has started the construction of a 30-year industrial photovoltaic self-consumption project with a global power of 22 MW in northern Spain, as the company announced this Thursday. It is the “largest national energy self-consumption project and one of the most relevant in Europe”, in the words of EiDF, since it will have an estimated production of 22,754,979 kWh that will cover 30% of the needs. . energy.

The execution of the project will consist of three simultaneous phases in PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) mode and will be composed of 40,076 solar panels mounted directly on the roof on an area of 200,000 square meters.

The project was contracted last December 2022 and as the company has announced in a statement to BME Growth, the price to pay for the energy coming from this installation, with the capacities established in the initial technical project, represents for the client a discount of approximately 60% of the current price of electricity according to OMIE (although the figure may fluctuate depending on market variations).

Remarkable reduction of the carbon footprint.

The company has highlighted that, with this project, it is not only investing in cost reduction, but also promoting its sustainability and environmental commitment objectives, since it will mean a reduction in the carbon footprint by 50,563 tons of CO2 per year, the equivalent to 202,253 trees planted.

“This is a very important project” in EiDF’s history, commented its CEO, Fernando Romero, who this week bought more than 70,000 shares of the company through his company Prosol Energía. Romero also wanted to show his gratitude “to everyone who has participated in this great project”, as well as to the EiDF Solar team.
