A statement was posted on the organization’s website that, in part, reads: “Forcing the evacuation of two thousand patients to the southern part of Gaza, where medical facilities are already stretched to breaking point, is tantamount to a death sentence.”
The WHO emphasizes that hospitals in northern Gaza continue to receive an influx of injured patients every hour and it is necessary to “urgently lift hospital evacuation orders.” Additionally, the document calls for the protection of medical institutions, health workers, patients and civilians in Gaza.
The WHO demands the immediate delivery of medical supplies, fuel, drinking water, food and other humanitarian aid to Gaza through the Rafah crossing. It is noted that “vital aid” had already arrived on Saturday.
