On December 30, 10 Fonbet KHL regular season games were played. We summarize the match day and tell you the most important things about the past matches, which were the last of 2023.
In the fifth minute, Almirante forward Daniil Gutik opened the scoring on a power play. Soon, striker Jean-Sébastien Di scored the visitors’ goal. In the second half, the teams again exchanged goals: Gutik scored a double, and Andrei Belozerov scored the majority for Neftekhimik. At the end of the playing time, the guests, thanks to the efforts of Belozerov, who scored a double, took the lead for the first time. In the third period, Grigory Seleznev and Dmitry Sokolov scored for Neftekhimik.

In the first half, Arkady Shestakov, David Sklenicka and Rudolf Cerveny scored for the hosts. In the second 20 minutes, Anthony Kamara scored Barys’ fourth goal. In the 49th minute, Nikita Soshnikov played one of Traktor’s goals on the power play, but a few minutes later Arkady Shestakov scored a double and restored the difference on the scoreboard – 5:1.

In the 17th minute, Kunlun Red Star forward Brandon Yip opened the scoring. At the beginning of the second half, on the power play, forward Alexander Petunin scored the return goal for Metallurg. In the 32nd minute, the hosts took the lead thanks to the efforts of Alexander Petunin, who scored a double. Just over 30 seconds later, forward Nikita Grebenkin reinforced Magnitogorsk’s lead. In the last minute Pavel Akolzin sent the puck into an empty goal (4:1).

During regulation time, the teams were unable to determine the winner. At the same time, Spartak twice took the lead with a difference of two goals. The score of the match was opened in the second minute by the red-and-white striker Maxim Tsyplakov, and then, in the middle of these twenty minutes, Dmitry Vishnevsky doubled the advantage. Vityaz hockey players were able to reduce the gap thanks to the efforts of Scott Wilson on the power play in the first period.
In the second half, Tsyplakov himself restored Spartak’s two-goal lead and Ansel Galimov made the score 4:1. However, Alexey Zhamnov’s team could not maintain this advantage: they later lost three goals in a row, scored by Alexander Yaremchuk, Vladislav Tsitsyura, who also scored a hat-trick (1+3), and Ruslan Pedan.
In extra time, Vityaz’s victory was brought by forward Ivan Savchik, who scored 3 (1+2) points in this match.

Despite the epic failure in Balashikha, Spartak finished the calendar year in first place in the KHL standings. As the KHL press service notes, for the first time in the history of the league the leader at the end of the calendar year of the start of the championship will be a team that did not make it to the playoffs the previous season.

The scoring of the match was opened midway through the first half by Avangard striker Damir Zhafyarov, who scored his first goal in the first match with the new club after a change from Ak Bars.
