“The fire in Chelyabinsk is located on an area of 1,200 square meters,” said the press service of the emergency department. “For an uninterrupted supply of water, firefighters use both hydrants and an open source – the Miass River.”
Firefighters had to literally dig hydrants out from under the snow. A vehicle with a hose pump from a specialized fire and rescue unit, designed to remove water from the river, came to the rescue.
Units of the Ministry of the Interior and the National Guard organized the protection of public order at the scene of the incident, and ambulance teams were also present. However, nothing is yet known about the victims.
The fire in the market started after it closed around 5 pm. According to preliminary data, there were no longer people in the trading pavilions.
