The sale and purchase of homes decreases by 11% in 2023, to 638,522 operations

Home sales in 2023 were closed with 638,522 transactions, 11% less compared to 2022, when 717,734 operations were reached, according to the statistics on real estate transactions from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda.

Between October and December, the number of transactions was 167,671, an increase of 17.84% compared to the previous quarter, when the lowest value of the year was obtained, and 3.63% less than during the fourth quarter of 2022.

Specified by autonomous communities, Asturias was the only one that did not perceive falls during 2023, but rather increased by 1.49%. Six autonomous communities

During the fourth quarter, sales fell in almost all the autonomous communities compared to the same period in 2022. As an exception, we find Navarra, with 23.77% more, Asturias, 11.15% more, Castilla-La Mancha, a 9.01% more, Castilla y León, 0.78% more, Cantabria, 0.26% more, and Murcia, with 0.05% more. By type of property, the sale and purchase of new construction in 2023 has decreased by 11.41%, to 60,030, while second-hand housing reached a total of 578,492, 11% less. In the fourth quarter of the year, new construction accounted for 17,072 transactions, a slight drop of 0.86% compared to the same period in 2022. Second-hand housing, for its part, achieved a total of 150,599 transactions between October and December , 4.11% less.
