Madrid begins on Wednesday, April 3, the deadline to submit schooling applications for the next academic year 2024/25. This admission phase, aimed at students who will study Early Childhood, Primary, Special, Compulsory Secondary and Baccalaureate Education in institutions supported by public funds throughout the community, will remain open until April 16. Afterwards, the list of those admitted to each nursery school (first cycle of Early Childhood Education), school (Preschool, Primary and ESO) or institute (Baccalaureate or Vocational Training FP) will be communicated and the registration process will begin.
According to the information offered by the Ministry of Education, Science and Universities, it is estimated that during this period nearly 150,000 enrollment applications will be formalized by Madrid families.
Application for a place in schools online
The process for applying for a nursery school, college or institute can be carried out both in person, at the educational center of first choice, and online through the institutional website of the Community of Madrid.
The Comprehensive Educational Management System of the Madrid Department of Education allows the completion and electronic signature of forms and their subsequent registration without having to present them at the center. This will collect the applications submitted by this means, which will have the same consideration as those registered in person.
How is an admission application processed online?
Submit the applications for the admission process, which can be done through a digital certificate, Roble credentials, registration in the Virtual Secretary or cl@ve electronic identification system and taking into account that the application must be signed by both parents/guardians (unless the impossibility of doing so is proven or one of them does not have parental authority). Users who have submitted the application electronically will also have access to the lists of applications, ranking and admission of the centers of their application.
When are the lists of those admitted to schools published?
Once the applications have been submitted, the process continues with the publication of the lists of those admitted. For students in the second cycle of Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, ESO and Baccalaureate, the lists will be announced on May 31.
For their part, those corresponding to the first cycle of Infants will be published on June 4. Enrollment must be formalized between June 13 and 28 for Infant, Primary and Special and from June 13 to July 5 for Secondary students.
Selection and grading criteria
In accordance with the guidelines stipulated in the LOMLOE, state Education Law, among the most determining factors for the admission of applicants is the proximity of the students to the selected center. However, other aspects have also been considered by the Community of Madrid. Among them, the existence of siblings in the same school stands out, favoring keeping family units together, or the student’s personal situation such as being part of a single-parent family or being in foster care.
In addition, the grading score will also take into account factors such as the presence of victims of terrorism or gender violence in the family or the consideration of an unborn child in relation to the large family criterion. In the case of siblings enrolled in the same center, the highest score will be maintained.
