On Sunday in Gelsenkirchen the match between the teams of England and Serbia will be played. In Germany there were fears that the match could lead to unrest by both teams.
On the eve of the match, a group of English fans attacked Serbian fans who were sitting in one of the city’s bars. The surprise factor did not work: the Serbs decently repelled their opponents and the arriving police forced the attackers to retreat, The Guardian reports.
There were some injuries. An England fan from Birmingham suffered a serious head injury and was treated. A police officer was also injured.
