According to Korneev, the real reason for the increase in taxi prices during bad weather, as well as during peak hours of night, morning and evening demand, is the Taxi Law No. 580-FZ. This law forced self-employed drivers out of the industry due to excessive carrier registration requirements, daily medical exams, and inflated insurance premiums.
The law took 2.5 million drivers out of the market, causing a labor shortage and therefore an increase in prices for taxi services. “I propose that legislators analyze the application of the law and the consequences of the impact of the Taxi Law on transport prices,” concluded Valeri Korneev.
