A reward system for reporting drunk drivers has been introduced in the Amur region – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Date: September 20, 2024 Time: 13:07:06

The rewards are financed from the regional budget. Citizens are encouraged to report drivers who show signs of intoxication associated with the consumption of alcohol, drugs, psychotropic substances, etc.

“Our residents often witness crimes when a driver tries to drive while intoxicated. Call and report this driver! If the inspectors stop him and the medical examination shows that the driver is intoxicated, we will pay him a monetary reward. Don’t pass by, your caring attitude will save someone’s life and make our roads safe!” – calls on Minister of Transport and Roads Alexander Zelenin.

If the driver’s violation is primary and he is punished under Articles 12.8 (driving a vehicle by a drunk driver, transferring control of a vehicle to a drunk person) and 12.26 (failure by the driver of the vehicle to comply with the requirement to undergo a medical examination for intoxication), the informant will receive five thousand rubles.

For reporting to the police about drunk drivers prosecuted (repeat offenders) for committing offenses provided for in paragraph “a” of Part 2, paragraph “a” of Part 4, paragraph “a” of Part 6 of Article 264 (violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles while intoxicated, negligently causing serious harm to human health, death of a person or death of two or more persons), Article 264.1 (driving a vehicle while intoxicated by a person subject to administrative punishment or having a criminal record) the payment will be 7,000 rubles.

Let us recall that a month ago, a terrible accident occurred on the outskirts of Blagoveshchensk due to a drunk driver, as a result of which five people died and four more ended up in hospitals.
