“Fascists are fascists. We must treat them this way and they must be destroyed,” TASS quotes Peskov as saying.
According to a Kremlin spokesman, this is exactly what the “heroes on the front lines” are doing in response.
Peskov said that Moscow is compiling a judicial database for similar cases of executions by Azovites. “Our investigators are working very thoroughly to collect all these facts of absolutely inhuman atrocities,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
The day before, media reported that the Azovites posted a video on their social networks in which one of the militants kills in cold blood a wounded and unarmed Russian soldier, who also suffered from shock at the time of his capture.
Deputy head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, commander of the Akhmat special forces, Apty Alaudinov, called the actions of the Azov men a violation of the Geneva Convention and called the militants themselves “satanists.”
In turn, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev called on Russian forces to respond symmetrically, citing Konstantin Simonov’s poem “Kill him!”
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation announced that it would investigate the murder.
