Five years later, superhero fans received good news: the actor returns to Marvel
Actor Robert Downey Jr. rose to fame after the release of the 2008 film Iron Man, in which he played the “genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist” Tony Stark. The work became Marvel Studios’ first project and the actor himself appeared in as many as 10 superhero films.
Robert Downey Jr. was one of the most beloved superheroes in the world. But after playing the same role for more than ten years in a row, the actor was clearly tired. At the end of Avengers: Endgame, released in spring 2019, the writers killed off Tony Stark.
Five years later, superhero fans received good news: the actor was returning to Marvel, but in a different role. Robert will appear in the new film “Avengers: Judgment Day”, which is set to be released in spring 2026.
The directors will be the Russo brothers, who worked on previous projects about a team of superheroes. They will also film the sixth “Avengers” with subtitle
Secret Wars, which is scheduled for release in 2027. Robert Downey Jr. will not return to the role of Iron Man, but will play the main villain, Doctor Doom. The creators clarified that this will be a version of a parallel reality, so as not to confuse viewers with Tony Stark, who has already died in the story.
