According to the Telegram channel of the regional department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, on August 8, seven residents of the Surgut region, from among the indigenous people of the North, sailed on a motor boat along the Maly Yugan River to a camp. The group did not reach their destination.
On the morning of August 9, the body of a woman was found in the river; the next day, an overturned boat and the bodies of two children born in 2023 and 2022 were found. After a visual inspection, rescuers concluded that her death was not violent.
The search continues. Criminologists, a representative of the Main Directorate of Forensic Sciences of the Investigative Committee of Russia, employees of Tsentrospas-Yugoria and the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra are on site. Volunteers and local residents have joined the search efforts.
