The streaming service Netflix is working on a series based on Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. The project was called The Greys. Deadline writes about it.
The show will be about eternal youth in the context of today’s beauty industry. The story will focus on Dorian and his friend, artist Basil, who is in love with his beauty. The show was written by Katie Rose Rogers. She also became a producer along with Robbie Rogers.
The novel was first published in the 20th century and received many film adaptations in many countries around the world, including Russia in 1915 and the USSR in 1968. The latest film based on the work was released in 2009 starring Ben Barnes and Colin Firth.
Netflix previously renewed Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen for a second season. Theo James and Kaya Scodelario will return to the screens. We talk about it in more detail here.
