“The ESC hydraulic unit successfully passed all tests in laboratory conditions: on a vibrating stand, in a climatic chamber at extreme temperatures from +105 to -40⁰С, as well as long-term tests,” the press service of Itelma Research reports and the Production Company told Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
As part of the car, the ESC was tested in regions with different climates, as well as on various surfaces: wet and dry asphalt, loose snow, gravel and combinations of surfaces.
In addition, other systems that ensure the ESC works were tested and calibrated as part of the tests: an anti-skid system, a traction control system, a hill start assist, an anti-lock braking system, as well as a function to turn on the hazard warning lights in the event of emergency braking.
According to the results of a series of tests, the ESC system produced by the Itelma research and production company has been approved for installation on the production Lada Vesta; production of such cars has already begun.
Itelma is currently carrying out a planned process of localization of ABS and ESC components, after which 90% of the system components will be produced in Russia.
“We successfully met the customer’s requirements and in several aspects achieved even better results compared to the ESC system previously installed on Lada Vesta. This is an excellent result and we are confident that with our ESC system, drivers of Lada Vesta cars will feel much more comfortable on roads in difficult conditions,” commented Alexey Vorobyov, General Director of the Itelma NPP.
