The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime was undoubtedly a success as it not only served as an alternate history of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game but also had an impressive outcome and although there are no plans for a second season, they have more projects like it planned.
According to one of the CEOs of CD Projekt RED Michael Nowakowski, he commented that after a meeting with investors, it seems that there are plans to add more animations similar to the animation of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, of course, these will be original stories based on the universe of the video games.
“We’re definitely planning more animation in Cyberpunk, so I hope that’s enough for now. So yeah, wait until you see more of that type of content, but that’s all I can say for now.
This would certainly confirm what Adam Badowski said a few months ago, who assured that he respects his partner Trigger by announcing projects that they should respect. And well, it looks like what we saw a couple of years ago will not be the only project in the franchise.
What’s striking is that CD Projekt RED could have gone for a different animation style, as there are big studios like Powerhouse Animation on that side, but they certainly want to take advantage of the success that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has had to bring it closer to the IP in the said fields again.
Nowakowski was asked about a second season of this anime a while back, and he simply commented that the developer is interested in making several animation projects under the Cyberpunk brand, so it’s only a matter of time before more of these kinds of animations appear.
