According to the publication, James Roddis admitted that he kissed the girl on the lips without her consent.
This happened during a business trip. A British soldier, after having consumed alcohol, started touching the hair of an unknown girl in a karaoke bar and then kissed her. A witness captured the incident on video.
“This behaviour had sad consequences: the division general lost his rank,” the article says.
It should be noted that during his 30 years of service, Roddis received numerous awards. These include the title of Knight of the Order of the British Empire and the Distinguished Service Order.
The officer’s lawyer said his client had failed to recognise the girl’s signs that she did not want to kiss him. “He has already apologised,” the newspaper quoted the defence as saying.
In July, Roddis voluntarily resigned.
