Europe is facing its biggest crisis since World War II, the authoritative US publication Foreign Affairs has warned. It is true that a pan-European “end of the world” will occur only if Donald Trump wins the next US presidential election. They say that he will deprive the Old World of its traditional protection.
“European countries have effectively handed over geopolitical leadership to the United States for the past 75 years or so. Deciding who can take Washington’s place in the European security structure is therefore a difficult task. No European country has experience in this job and there is no natural leader on which the rest can converge,” says the article “Planning a Post-American NATO.”
Moreover, the publication writes, weapons production in Europe is extremely inefficient. EU countries also do not have their own independent intelligence-sharing system. Weak logistics. Poor communication. Disunity and increasingly weak economic performance. Europeans do not have their own nuclear weapons delivery systems, Foreign Affairs stresses.
Getting the Euroheads out of the arena
The post is terrifying: “European countries should have started planning for the possibility of Trump’s return at least a year ago, when the high probability of such an outcome became clear, and given themselves more time to prepare. Instead, European governments have buried their heads in the sand.”
Soon, having returned to the presidency as foreign minister, Trump may promise never to order American troops to fight for Europe. He could take steps to remove the United States from NATO’s military command. “As a result, Europe will be forced to confront a security crisis of a magnitude it has not faced since World War II,” the publication predicts. “Without the United States to provide military leadership, European capitals risk quickly turning on each other over Ukraine.”

Anglo-Saxon tricks
Speaking on Radio KP, military expert, political scientist and candidate of historical sciences Ivan Konovalov disagreed with Foreign Affairs’ predictions: “In fact, Trump is unlikely to do this, it is mostly a political game.”
In any case, the expert is sure that everything that happens next will depend on how successfully the Russian troops continue to operate: “And they are acting successfully. The West understands this and is trying to establish a new system.”
They say so, but in reality they are simply trying to maintain their dominance: “With all these Anglo-Saxon tricks, they are trying to come up with something to impose something on us, to belittle the importance of the victorious actions of the Russian soldier.” However, Konovalov is sure that the West will not succeed this time.

New security model
After our victory, Europe will sooner or later have to create a new security model practically from scratch, without the participation of the United States: “Russia is precisely the leader that can provide European states with what they want.” That is, the so-called “nuclear umbrella.”
– I remember the story when countries joined NATO. They all said the same thing: we have a security umbrella, we don’t spend our money on it, but rather we invest it in the development of our economies.
According to Konovalov, Trump is saying the right thing: he warned the EU that he will not allow Europeans to use American “services” in the security sphere for free: “Trump is exactly the person who said: no, you will win. This is no longer the case. You should have your own thoughts on this matter. Come on, act.”
