The expert clarified that those who receive old-age, survivors’ and disability pensions can expect higher payments.
According to him, the first stage of indexation will take place on February 1st and not January 1st as has been the case in recent years.
“The amount is tied to the inflation rate of the previous year and will be 4.5%,” Ivanova-Shvets was quoted as saying by Prime news agency.
The second indexation of 2.2% is scheduled for 1 April 2025.
Just a note: the indexation amount indicated is approximate, as it will depend on the inflation data for 2024. In fact, the specialist explained, this is how pensions were increased until 2019. But the new indexation formula, which will be introduced in 2025, may be more profitable than the previous one.
It is important that pensions are indexed not only for non-working pensioners, but also for working ones, Ivanova-Shvets added.
