In February 2020, Sleptsova and Ustyugov, who had already completed their careers, were disqualified for two years for violating anti-doping rules based on data obtained from the Moscow laboratory’s database.
The athletes appealed against the decision, but it was rejected, the press service of the International Biathlon Union reports. According to the decision, all of Ustyugov’s results from 27 August 2013 to the end of the 2013/14 season were cancelled. Sleptsova’s results from 22 March 2013 to the end of the 2013/14 season were also cancelled.
The decision applies to all competitions, including the Olympic Games, World Championships and World Cups. Ustyugov won gold in the relay at the 2014 Olympics. The Russian team will lose this award.
