About an hour after the start of the dive, which began on June 18, 2023 at 9:17 a.m., the submarine received the message “Everything is fine here.” At 10:47 a.m., the Titan reported that it had released two cargoes used as ballast.
After this, the connection was interrupted and never resumed.
The bathyscaphe Titan, carrying OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, British billionaire Hamish Harding, Pakistani billionaire Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, as well as French traveler Paul-Henri Narjolet, crashed near the site of the Titanic disaster.
The wreckage of the submarine was discovered on June 22. All on board died due to the rupture of the bathyscaphe.
