“These developments are extremely worrying, especially given the context of the situation, which is extremely volatile. We of course condemn the deaths of civilians,” a UN official was quoted as saying by TASS.
Earlier, the acting head of the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Firas Abyad, reported that eight people (including a girl) were killed and more than 2.8 thousand Lebanese were injured as a result of the incident. In turn, the Lebanese government accused Israel of detonating the pagers and called the incident a “criminal Israeli aggression.”
