Akron beat Fakel for the third time this season and reached the Russian Cup playoffs.
Akron and Fakel met again (for the third time this season). And the Voronezh Club angered its fans again.
Just a couple of weeks ago, the Russian Cup match between Fonbet Akron and Fakel would have caused little interest among neutral fans. However, the situation changed on the last day of the summer transfer market. It was then that Akron acquired striker Artyom Dzyuba. A few days later, the veteran made his debut for the new club. It turned out well. Dzyuba came on in the middle of the second half against Khimki (3-0) and eventually provided an assist.

Dziuba nobly conceded a goal in his debut for Akron. And the highlight match was played by another former Spartak player.
This time, Akron coach Zaur Tedeev released the 36-year-old player in the starting lineup. In the first half, Dzyuba was barely noticeable in front of the opponent’s goal, but at the same time he looked good in individual battles. And at the end of the half, Nikolai Giorgobiani hit the crossbar from a decisive position after a cross from Igor Kalinin. But even here it is necessary to single out Volkov: the goalkeeper lightly caught the ball with his hand and, in fact, saved the team from losing the goal.

“Fakel” attacked harder in the first half, but failed at the start of the second. The goal is entirely due to Vladimir Khubulov. The same player who scored against Khimki after a pass from Dzyuba. This time Vladimir did everything himself. He ran away from three opponents and then coolly put it into the far corner. Even the desperate tackle of Irakli Kvekveskiri did not help. Look at this beauty!

And then Dzyuba’s magic worked. No, Artyom didn’t score or pass. In the 61st minute, Dzyuba was replaced by Sergei Gribov, to whom the veteran gave some instructions. And it worked! Two minutes later, Gribov successfully corrected the flight of the ball after a shot by Khubulov (2:0). I listened to Dzyuba’s instructions and scored almost from the first touch after entering the field.

In the end, Akron tried to beat them, but Vitaly Gudiev was against. Fakel’s goalkeeper saved the ball after a great shot by Arseniy Dmitriev. The long-haired player of the home team made a beautiful turn under the crossbar: Gudiev deflected the ball for a corner. In general, it should be noted that after the break Akron looked much more interesting than its rivals.
Akron beat Fakel for the third time this season, but for the first time at home. The Togliatti club moved up to second place in the group, scoring eight points. Apparently, Akron and Rubin (six points) will compete for the second place in the quartet and a ticket to the upper bracket of the Russian Cup playoffs. But Tedeev’s team will definitely play in the playoffs of the tournament. And “Fakel” needs to improve its position in the RPL.
