On Wednesday, September 18, a regular meeting of the Government Commission was held in Moscow under the chairmanship of the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov.

As Komsomolskaya Pravda reported in the press service of the emergency department, among other things, the issues of “the progress of restoration and repair of the housing of the affected population” were also considered. We are talking about the damage caused by the flood in the spring of 2024.

By the way, in July of this year, Lieutenant General Alexander Kurenkov personally flew to Orsk, having survived a terrible flood: he met with the residents of the city and visited the construction site where new housing is being built. Then I had the opportunity to cover the business trip of the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (more details)

The minister may make a similar visit to the city this fall.

The meeting also discussed, among other things, “previously approved plans: schedules for eliminating the consequences of the emergency situation and carrying out restoration work on housing and infrastructure.”

“In addition, on this day we discussed the allocation of budgetary allocations from the reserve fund of the Government of the Russian Federation to provide financial assistance to citizens affected by the negative impact of floods in 2024.”

“The Orenburg region (as the most affected – AG) was allocated about 9 billion rubles from the federal budget, more than 300 thousand people received assistance.”

The minutes of the meeting also contain the following figures: “In the Kurgan region, assistance was provided to about 15,000 citizens for a total amount of more than 960 million rubles, taking into account the increase in payments. In the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), about 4,000 people received payments, totaling more than 300 million rubles. More than 10,000 citizens received assistance to residents of the Omsk region for a total amount of more than 270 million rubles. In the Tyumen region, taking into account the increase in payments, about 20,000 citizens received assistance – more than 380 million rubles.”

Alexander Kurenkov noted that, in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, a Government Decree on indexation of payments to the population affected by emergency situations has been issued, and that it is necessary to continue improving the system of providing financial assistance.

At the end of the meeting, Alexander Vyacheslavovich once again drew the attention of all regional leaders to the need to organize systematic work on preparation for the flood period of 2025 and to implement preventive measures.

“The head of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry also stressed the importance of obtaining a timely forecast of flood development and adjusting the operation of reservoirs based on it.”
