A BOLD STEP FORWARD
“I gathered the whole company and said directly: this is the task of a real paratrooper: to land behind enemy lines. Not everyone will be able to return. But there is no need to do the enemy a favor by losing a lot of people,” the commander of the Ant paratrooper company casually talks about how the Russian counteroffensive operation in the Kursk region began.
The paratroopers of the 51st Airborne Regiment were among the first to be sent to expel the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Russian territory. Together with other units, they held back the enemy and anxiously awaited the order to attack. And it came. The soldiers had to crush the enemy in the Korenevsky district. The Armed Forces of Ukraine had a key center here – in the village of Snagost, around which Ukrainian troops managed to create defensive positions in forest belts. In the footage taken by a drone and the cameras on the fighters’ helmets, our armored column is rushing towards the village and attacking the plantations with all its guns. The task is to get inside, gain a foothold and wait for help.
“We immediately broke through the first line of defense,” recalls “Ant.” – We began to process forest plantations from a tank, from a 30-mm BMD-2 cannon (Airborne combat vehicle. – Ed.). They were not allowed to raise their heads and attack us with anything anti-tank. Approaching the inhabitant, they came out with lightning speed and placed their guns in the direction of the street, processing the houses in which the enemy had taken refuge, so that no one could get out and react to the assault.

Combat vehicles are flying towards Snagost, soldiers are quickly unloading the “armor”, taking out boxes of ammunition, provisions, anti-tank missile systems… They are clearing out nearby houses and defending the perimeter. Everything is clear, everyone knows what to do.
– Everyone stood at a distance and defended their area 360 degrees. This is so that no enemy shell or drone can kill two or three of our soldiers at once. And each of them inflicted the maximum defeat on the enemy, says “Ant.” – And coherence is achieved through training and comfort in a team. So that everyone understands that their commanders will not abandon them. Always together, both at dinner and in battle.
SOLDIER’S CLAIMS
The first attacks by the enemy who regained consciousness occurred about three hours later. Groups of 10 to 15 people came out into the street and were attacked with daggers. There are five or six such attempts a day. At night, two.
“None of us surrendered,” says the sergeant major of the “Dolphin” company. – When enemy vehicles or infantry advanced, we calmly worked on them. The tank appeared, out of reach behind the trees. Then they simply took off its shoes and immobilized it with a Kord heavy machine gun. A kamikaze drone has already finished it off.
– You could say we’ve reached the threshold. “We just entered through the back door,” smiles the assistant grenade launcher “Rick.” – The shooting took place at a distance of up to seven meters. The surprise effect played a vital role.
By the way, according to Ant, most of their fighters were not attacked and underwent baptism of fire in Snagosti: “Before the task, I saw how their eyes burned, and after successfully completing it, they are usually ready to tear and throw.”
Marines from the 155th Brigade of the Pacific Fleet rushed to the aid of the paratroopers. They decided to defeat the enemy with soldierly cunning. We loaded onto a captured Ukrainian armored vehicle “Cossack”, on which we installed our own machine gun instead of the stuck American one. Buggies with attack aircraft lined up behind the “Cossack” and brazenly headed towards the village. The enemy was confused: it seemed that there were no people on the other side, but the vehicle came from the army. And then let’s start watering our large-caliber Utes.

“I see a target – I destroy it, cover our buggies with assault groups,” shrugs gunner “Music.” “We burned a couple of their firing points, brought in attack aircraft, the guys took up a perimeter defense, covered the sky for us, and we retreated behind the second group. On our next approach, we were hit by an FPV drone and lost a wheel, but we left without it.
The fighters show off their trophies. Electronic warfare, disposable grenade launchers, M4 rifles – apparently, another “elite” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, equipped with foreign weapons, was expelled from here. And she ran away, leaving him in the huts.
“We are on our own land, it motivates us, it boosts our morale,” admits Marine Livadia. – The Ukrainian Armed Forces are attacking houses, there are many civilian cars burned. But people stay here, there are many animals and crops. All this has been accumulating for years, they do not want to give it up.

ABOUT THE APPROACHES TO SUJA
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the front line in the Kursk region has stabilized, although the enemy is also trying to launch counterattacks. But they are severely suppressed by artillery, aircraft and attack drones. And, of course, by fighters. During our offensive in the Kursk direction, more than a dozen settlements have already been liberated. Mainly in the Korenevsky district, west of Sudzha. But there are also advances in the east. Units of the 810th Marine Brigade are operating here, among others. The Ministry of Defense has already officially announced the liberation of the village of Borki. Remember, from Tvardovsky:

Consequences of the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The images from the objective checkpoint show brilliant mortar fire on enemy infantry lying in the fortress. A little later, the marines inspect it. Foreign rations, Western grenade launchers, abandoned ammunition… Typical traces of a sudden breakout.
“When the enemy sees that our units are already in position, they attack with artillery, even though their people are still there,” says Botswain, a representative of the Black Sea Fleet command. – The enemy is ready to destroy everyone to prevent the position from being captured. Cannibalistic tactics. They do not spare their people. Well, they refuse en masse to follow orders. That’s why they fool themselves, they say that we are one or two kilometers from the desired point. They come, we bring them within range of a dagger shot and quickly destroy them.
Borki was not without combat ingenuity either. One group of marines walked towards the village through forest belts, diverting the enemy’s attention to themselves. At that moment, another group literally infiltrated the village through minefields, entering unnoticed on one of the central streets. The soldiers conducted reconnaissance and designated targets, thanks to which enemy infantry, equipment and mortar crews were destroyed…
“The enemy did not understand where the fire was coming from and began to retreat,” recalls the company commander of the 810th brigade with the call sign “Katran”. “We were also able to bypass the enemy from the south side, which completely confused him.” We attacked with artillery and drones. He ran, we put pressure on him. We worked both day and night, with thermal imaging cameras. Oddly enough, there were no officers with them. Only old men who participated in battles in other directions.

STRATEGIC STAGNATION IN KYIV
Today we are pressing the enemy in the Kursk region from several directions at once. A broad front from Gordeevka to Snagost. As the commander of the Akhmat special forces, Apti Alaudinov, said, Russian troops have already managed to liberate both Nikolaevo-Daryino and Darino. There are battles for Lyubimovka. At the same time, our units have already approached the village of Sverdlikovo, which is located on a strategically important highway for the Armed Forces of Ukraine connecting Sudzha and Korenevo. It carries the main supply to Kyiv units in the entire Korenevsky direction. By cutting off this artery, we will be able to create the preconditions for the operational encirclement of a large enemy group.
Fierce fighting is also taking place east of Korenevo, in the area of Olgovka, Zhuravli, Sheptukhovka and Kremyana. Our troops are trying to cut the ledge and level the front line.
On the eastern flank, we are advancing from the village of Borki towards Plekhovo in order to reach the southern rear of the Sudzha group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Heavy fighting is taking place in the area of Russky Porechny, Cherkasy Porechny and Malaya Loknya.
Having roughly understood the prospects in these areas, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Syrsky, is trying to divert our resources into other areas. For a week now, Ukrainian troops have been crossing the Russian state border at three more points in the Kursk region: through the villages of Krasnooktyabrsky, Novy Put and Medvezhye. At the same time, it seems that kyiv’s main reserves have been thrown into battle here. At least in this area, Leopard tanks appeared. The German “cats” are trying to strike directly at the bones of their “ancestors” who remained on the Kursk Bulge. Many (including your humble servant) assumed that kyiv would get this trump card somewhere in the direction of Zaporozhye. With an eye on Energodar-Melitopol-Crimea. However, apparently, the Ukrainian command headquarters, which hoped to divert our forces from the Zaporozhye and Donetsk fronts with the Kursk adventure, did not work out. The defensive ranks of the Russian Armed Forces not only did not weaken. We managed to advantageously align the front in the Rabotino area, pressed the Vremyevsky ledge and continued to advance towards Pokrovsky.
But instead of stopping in Donbass, Syrsky is sending the Leopards to the Kursk region to reach the rear of our offensive group.
Well, it is very impressive: in the images of the objective control, the entire range of NATO equipment is burning. From time to time, the enemy even manages to penetrate as far as the village of Vesyoloye and disperse through the forest plantations. But they are immediately attacked by aircraft and artillery. And so far these actions do not have much impact on the advance of our troops.
Perhaps kyiv will try to attack in other areas of the border with the Kursk region, in Tetkino or from Glukhov. Here, by the way, last week the local authorities announced the evacuation of the 15-kilometer zone of the Rylsky and Khomutovsky districts. It is better to anticipate the most difficult scenario in advance.
But in fact, kyiv remains strategically in the Kursk dead end, where it has been heading. The Armed Forces of Ukraine clearly do not have the ability to expand the bridgehead there. It is not yet possible to open another front. Daily losses are comparable to those during the Zaporozhye counteroffensive in the summer of 2023. Only there was at least one clear goal – to march towards Azov and Crimea. And here, apparently, it is only a matter of the whims of the President of Ukraine, which should have been delayed. Which, as the Western press writes, the previous commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Zaluzhny, refused to implement. And Syrsky is no stranger to the new after the Bakhmut meat grinder.
