On October 26, the Sound Up festival will present a new project within the framework of the Cosmoscow contemporary art fair, which will be carried out with the information support of BURO. On this occasion, the site-specific performance “Sound Up performa: korowod” with the participation of the artist Ilya Starilov, the director Yuri Kvyatkovsky, the Zventa Sventana group and the folk ensemble of the Russian Academy of Music Gnessin will explore the topic of folklore in the present. culture.
One of the key elements of the project will be the space: the pavilion of the Timiryazev Center in Moscow. The Sound Up team reinvented the hangar as a stage area, itself divided into two zones. The first is the rectangle of the living room. The second is the center of the pavilion, surrounded by screens on which fairy-tale characters from a video installation created especially for the event by artist Ilya Starilov dance their whimsical circular dance.
The sound resonates throughout the space: folk songs carefully collected during folklore expeditions to different regions of Russia. Folklore is presented at the concert in two different interpretations: on the one hand, the authentic songs of the ensemble of the Russian Academy of Music. Gnesins and then a modern interpretation of ancient sources by Tina Kuznetsova and the Zventa Sventana project. From authentic songs of the Russian people to a techno party with all kinds of stops, in one hour.
